ADDITIONAL:
Case ADU
Eurokaz
has had different experiences with The Academy of Drama Arts (ADU
- Akademija dramskih umjetnosti), not so many good ones. For students
of the Academy, Eurokaz was a forbidden zone, it could be visited
only clandestinely, and permitted pedagogical imposture was only
negative. However, it seems that things change over the years.
Eurokaz’s aesthetics enter step by step into the Academy programme
and students can more freely refer to contemporary theatre inclinations.
During this spring students of theatre direction pointed out in
their media statements that they expected even more from the Academy.
The press made quite an event out of it, and there was no space
for serious discussion about the education system at Zagreb’s Academy,
and no proper space for its encounter with contemporaneity.
This year, the last day of the festival will be dedicated to activities of
the Academy. Two of its productions will be presented. Especially
interesting work of the acting workshop by Bobo
Jelčić, that has
been made with final year students, where the traditional system
of approaching acting is perforated by a row of authentic insights,
as well as the final exam Adam
and Eve by director Darijo Harjaček.
He lays the contemporary procedure of composing cycle fraction
scenes upon the cycle structure of Krleaa’s expressionist drama,
successfully following a principle of music sampling
.
The day ends with a discussion where all professors, students and
festival guests are invited as well as others who will find it
intriguing, and themes will be discussed that are didactical problems
for the Academy. There will also be an attempt to demonstrate that
in its segments it should follow the demands of our time.
Academy students will take part as moderators of two discussions
on this year’s festival, one dedicated to Societas Raffaello
Sanzio and the other to the issue of interactivity in theatre.
