COMPAGNIE FELIX RUCKERT BERLIN,
GERMANY
Secret Service
After studying dance in Berlin, Essen, Paris and
New York, Felix Ruckert founded an international company of dancers,
performers, musicians and artists in Berlin in 1994.
The company travels around the world with their own projects ranging
from interactive experiences with the audience to installations or
pieces of pure choreographic research. In his work Felix Ruckert questions the perception of live performance allowing the spectator
to play an active role, to be addressed as an individual, and confronted
with an intense and long-lasting emotional pressure.
Ruckert transforms, transposes and diverts the codes of everyday
social activities into an artistic field and wide spectrum of performing
directions. Strong concepts, well-thought out rules and elegant aesthetics
give a clear frame to his shows.
Theatre for Ruckert is a communicative
space where the cognitive capacities of the dancers, and also of
the audience are exposed to pertinent challenge. Each of his projects
is based on strong principles and produced through specific methods.
Secret Service is his latest
interactive production that pushes the dance performance to its most
extreme format to become the most private
show in the world. Only curious, courageous and strong spectators are invited to this show. Protected by anonymity, accepting inner
confidence, the spectator and his body become the subject of research
and space for experiment, and through two levels of performance,
guided by hands of experts, they reach unhindered an authentic sensation
of motion.
People, like Ruckert who research such radical ways of making the
border between spectator and performer more permeable in dance are
very rare. A spectator in this ‘body lab’ discovers passion or
desire and understands that each experience is an encounter with himself.
There are no spectators in Secret Service; blind folded a spectator
becomes a dancer. Receiving information on motion, odour, hearing
and touch, s/he delivers herself with confidence to a world of unknown
limbs and their pliant physys.
Intimacy, sensuality and erotic value define the field of research,
pervading the spectator on a completely individual trip through spaces
of tactile pleasures where the pain also has a special place.
