Via Negativa (Slovenia)
Exhibition: June 23 - 27
The internationally acclaimed Slovenian collective Via Negativa, which has collaborated with Eurokaz on several projects before, will present its most ambitious project yet at the Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb (MSU): Via Nova, an anthology of all its works, renamed Via MSU Zagreb for this occasion. It is inspired by the museum`s unique architecture and by the structure of its permanent collection.
A Via Negativa performer abandons the former referential frame, abandons the theatre performance and becomes an independent author. He puts his name on the work, gives it its own title, and exhibits himself individually as his own work. The goal of every performance is to assemble itself into a visual work of art. The collective presentation of 12 performances follows the structure and context of MSU`s permanent collection and takes place on all three levels of the building.
Although no viewer will be able to see all the performances, they will have a chance to choose their own viewing strategy. The last, 13th performance will announce the opening of the exhibition VIA NOVA Via MSU Zagreb, featuring the video of all the peformances, or whatever remains of them.
