The artistic duo Anna Sophia Bonnema and Hans Peter Dahl sing to the audience in the guise of their alter egos Ricky and Ronny. These two singing characters occupy a corner of reality unaffected by an unidentified war, and naively believe that individual happiness can be manipulated.
Their rock duets, somewhere between Nico and Leonard Cohen, charm us with monotony of electropop, but also surprise us with their open, almost insolent melancholy we believed would never again have any emotional success or commercial potential.
The Ballad of Ricky and Ronny is a quest for the ideally unassertive combination of stage play and concert. This time, the authors have come up with a really extreme form in which a kinky soap opera turns into a psychedelic concert with no rhetoric elements whatsoever.
